It was such an incredible thrill to be awarded the Soaring Micro Award earlier this month at the prestigious Altitude Awards. The awards are held annually by the organisation “Women with Altitude”, a group that exists to support, connect and inspire women in business. There were about 300 amazing, inspiring people at the Awards Gala Ball and I was happy to just be there as a finalist – so when Susan Templeman called out my name as the winner in my category, I was temporarily speechless!
If you’ve noticed it’s been a bit quiet here on the website and on Facebook, I have a good reason. Six months ago, I signed up for a year-long health coaching course online with the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. I’m absolutely loving the course, but it certainly has been keeping me busy during any spare time I have between my practice, the clinic and my two young children! I’m at the half-way point now and I wanted to share with you what I’ve been up to, why I’m doing this course and what it will mean for my offerings in the future.
I am very pleased to announce that on behalf of my clinic, the Quan Yin Healing Centre, I have become a Turn The Tables Partner with the Mama Lana's Community Foundation (MLCF). This partnership will provide ongoing funding for the MLCF to continue providing a range of services to the homeless and underprivileged people in the greater Penrith area.
I'm really happy to announce that I have joined up with the wonderful organisation, "Cancer Wellness Support" to provide subsidised and discounted treatments to people with cancer, anywhere along their cancer journey. Cancer Wellness Support is an organisation that is committed to supporting people with cancer and their families by offering a range of complementary therapies as well as lifestyle and group support experiences.
It is with a very happy heart that I can announce that the clinic is officially ready and open for business! Its been a busy month renovating the space, but I am so pleased with how it has turned out. All the feedback I have received has been so positive, with people saying that the clinic feels very peaceful, welcoming and nurturing - just as I intended. Below are a few photos to give you an idea of what it looks like on the inside...but for a better look, come and visit in person! I hope to see you soon.
It has been a journey of epic proportions to secure a lease here in Springwood, but today, we made it to the finish line! I finally have a beautiful clinic space here in the Blue Mountains to call my very own. There is still a lot of work to be done to transform the space into the gorgeous, nurturing, healing haven I dream of creating for you, but watch this space.
My provisional opening date will be Tuesday the 7th of November and I will update Bookeo soon to allow online bookings to begin. I can't wait to open the doors and begin serving you soon.
I have missed you so much! It has been such a long absence from formal practice - almost two years since I closed down my beloved clinic in Marrickville. I had my second child, a delightful daughter, and have been intensely busy nurturing my beautiful family of four ever since. I never really stopped practicing though....as I use my skills and knowledge to keep myself, my family and my friends healthy as much as possible, and I have done an impressive amount of study in moments snatched between naps and bedtimes. Now, at long last I am ready to create a new clinic close to my home in the beautiful Blue Mountains...the sweet town of Springwood, to be precise.
Its been a little quiet around here lately. Back in early January, I had to take sudden leave from the clinic, and I haven't been able to write or do anything much related to the clinic for the past 9 weeks, and I have missed it. I wasn't able to explain to my patients at the time the reason for my mysterious disappearance, but now I feel its time to share, with those of you who are interested, where I have been for the past few months. I feel that there are always great lessons to be learned from all challenges that we face and hope that me speaking up helps give a voice to others who may suffer in silence.
We have a new practitioner on the Affordable Acupuncture team - the wonderful Emma Quine! I am so happy to have a practitioner of Emma's calibre joining us here at the clinic. Emma, Kata and I all studied together at UTS many years ago, and Emma has always been passionate, enthusiastic and dedicated to learning and mastering TCM. Since graduation she has had a wealth of experiences working with very well respected practitioners and runs her own successful practice at Leichhardt. She is joining us at Affordable Acupuncture for one day a week as her gift to the community.
Emma has a special interest in women's fertility and pregnancy support but is also an extremely well rounded practitioner. I feel completely confident and happy entrusting your care with Emma, and know that those of you who were sad about Gen's departure will be pleased with the continuity of care that she can provide.
Emma will be available at our clinic on Tuesdays from 11am - 7pm and will look after you exquisitely.
It is with sadness that I tell you Genevieve will no longer be working with us at Affordable Acupuncture. As you may know, she has been on holidays and unfortunately, she will not be returning to the clinic. In order to explain, I will pass over to the lovely lady herself – she has written a message especially for you. Read on for her message, my tribute to her, and an update as to what will be happening in the clinic for the short and long term:
