Acupuncturist, Chinese Medicine practitioner,
somatic-informed guide, and lifelong student of the body
|
My first encounter with Chinese Medicine was over 30 years ago now, in a crowded, bustling clinic filled with cubicles, unfamiliar sounds, and the strange, earthy smells of herbs.
It was not glamorous. But it was profound. I experienced, in my own body, that healing could feel different. Slower. Deeper. More connected. Like someone was listening to a language my body had been speaking all along. And something in me knew: I want to understand this. I want to share this. More than three decades later, that first spark is still here. I’m Angie Savva — an AHPRA registered Chinese Medicine practitioner, acupuncturist, herbalist, integrative health coach and founder of Quan Yin Healing Centre in Springwood, in the beautiful Blue Mountains |
My work brings together Traditional Chinese Medicine, acupuncture, somatic awareness, health coaching, nutrition, herbal medicine, and deep clinical listening to support women through fertility journeys, hormonal changes, stress, burnout, pain, life transitions and complex health stories.
Not because I believe your body is broken.
Because I believe your body is wise.
And sometimes it needs a space where its story can finally be heard.

The way I practise
So many people arrive in my clinic after years of trying to hold everything together.
They’ve seen the specialists.
Read the books.
Googled at 2am.
Tried to be “good” with their health.
Tried to explain symptoms that don’t fit neatly into one box.
And often, underneath all of that, there is a very human longing:
Please don’t reduce me to a diagnosis.
Please don’t rush me.
Please help me understand what is happening in my body.
This is where my work begins.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, your body is not a collection of separate parts. Your cycle, digestion, sleep, pain, mood, energy, nervous system, emotional life and environment are all in conversation with each other.
My job is to help us listen to that conversation.
I bring the clinical structure of TCM, the practical support of health coaching, and the gentle depth of somatic awareness — so we can explore not only what is happening, but what your body may have been adapting to for a very long time.
Healing, to me, is not about fixing you.
It is about helping your body remember what it knows.

The path that shaped me
I graduated from the University of Technology Sydney with a Bachelor of Health Science in Traditional Chinese Medicine, with the highest grade average in my class, and completed a clinical internship in an integrative Chinese hospital in Beijing.
I have always loved learning. (Possibly to an excessive degree. But honestly, I regret nothing.)
Over the years, I’ve studied acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, paediatrics, infant massage, aromatherapy, nutrition, reflexology, complementary therapies, psychology, sociology, integrative nutrition, women’s herbal medicine and somatic coaching.
Before founding Quan Yin Healing Centre, I worked in several clinics, including the Acupuncture IVF Support Clinic, community acupuncture clinics and Paddington Medical Centre.
I also established and ran a free weekly acupuncture clinic for people diagnosed as HIV+ in conjunction with ACON, providing care to people who were carrying so much and often had very few places to receive support.
In 2010, I founded Affordable Acupuncture in Marrickville — a low-cost, community-focused acupuncture clinic that grew to include a team of practitioners offering treatments seven days a week.
In 2017, after returning to my hometown of Springwood, I founded Quan Yin Healing Centre: a nurturing, multidisciplinary clinic in the heart of the Blue Mountains.
And in 2019, I was honoured to be named ATMS Practitioner of the Year, as well as winning the Soaring Solo Award at the Women With Altitude Awards.
These awards were a beautiful recognition.
But the real honour is still the same as it was in the beginning:
sitting with another human being, listening deeply, and helping them feel less alone in their body.

Always learning, always listening
I am still, always, a student.
In recent years, my studies have expanded more deeply into somatic healing, intimacy, trauma recovery, nervous system repair, pleasure and embodied aliveness.
I am currently completing a 600-hour VITA intimacy coaching certification, and have travelled to Costa Rica in 2025 for immersive in-person study with Layla Martin, as well as a two-week trauma healing and recovery intensive in February 2026 with world famous teachers including Bessel van der Kolk, Richard Schwartz, Arielle Schwartz, Ruby Wax and Scott Lyons.
These experiences continue to shape the way I sit with clients: with more reverence for the body, more respect for the nervous system, and more tenderness for all the ways we learn to protect ourselves.
Because healing is not just about functioning better.
It is also about feeling more alive.

A clinic that feels like an exhale
Quan Yin Healing Centre was born from a very clear desire:
to create a space where clinical excellence and deep nurture could live together.
A place that felt calm, beautiful and grounded.
A place where your nervous system could soften.
A place where the details mattered — the light, the scent, the colours, the quiet, the way you are greeted, the way your story is held.
Because treatment is not just what happens on the table.
It is the whole experience of being met with care.
My clients often come to me for acupuncture, fertility support, stress and burnout, hormonal changes, pain, digestion, emotional wellbeing and the many strange, subtle symptoms that do not always fit neatly into one category.
But underneath the presenting issue, the work is often about something deeper:
coming home to themselves.

Beyond the clinic
I have two gorgeous children, for whom acupuncture, herbs, massage and natural health are simply part of ordinary life.
This work is not something I perform at the clinic and leave behind at the end of the day.
It is woven into how I live, how I parent, how I listen, how I learn, and how I keep evolving as a practitioner and a person.
I am still, always, a student.
Of Chinese Medicine.
Of the nervous system.
Of women’s bodies.
Of trauma, pleasure, grief, resilience, cycles, story and aliveness.
And every day, I feel grateful that this is the work I get to do.
