An open letter to my beautiful patients, I hope this message finds you well and keeping cosy on this winters eve. I have missed, you, and have been dreaming of writing this email to you all for so long! First of all, I want to sincerely apologise for metaphorically "falling off the edge of the earth" for a while there. I know that one moment, I was saying that my new clinic was just around the corner, and then the next…..well, the next, there was radio silence. A number of you have texted, emailed and called me, only to receive no reply. For this, I can only humbly beg your forgiveness. Without going into too much detail, there have been an unfortunate combination of factors that conspired to make opening a new practice extremely difficult, as well as to concurrently throw my entire life into absolute and total chaos. It is only a slight exaggeration to say that to get to this point has felt like crawling on my hands and knees over broken glass for the last six months. To be honest, for a while there I wasn’t sure I was going to make it through to the other side. Luckily, there is now light at the end of the tunnel. I owe a great debt of gratitude to the people who loved, supported and helped me through this difficult time, including my wonderful dad, my amazing partner, my (mostly!) delightful children, my caring friends, and an incredible psychologist I was lucky enough to find through a little known about government-funded program for complex PTSD. I've received invaluable practical support from the kind and generous people at Winmalee & Blaxland Neighbourhood Centres, and the Anglicare mobile pantry (if you are struggling financially, do check them out, they’re fabulous!). To all these people and more - thank you from the bottom of my heart. Now to the part where I get to tell you the best news of all…. Drum roll please…. I have a new clinic space in Springwood!!! It’s the Quan Yin Healing Centre (2.0!) - and it is, *finally*, almost ready to share with you, and be unveiled unto the world!!! It has been a labour of love to say the least, and I have had to create this space from scratch, from the very bare bones of a dilapidated premises. However, I hope you will be able to feel my love and care in every part of it. I have many plans for continual improvements, so this is just the beginning. In addition to offering my acupuncture and health coaching services that you are familiar with, I will soon be introducing new offerings over the coming months, including: Facial/cosmetic acupuncture Hot stone massage Chinese remedial massage Deluxe pamper packages And for the pièce de résistance… I have upgraded the much loved waiting room massage chair, with a new, state of the art relaxation pod - the Meditouch by Elex chairs - an award winning massage chair that features smart AI technology and offers customised massage experiences. This is a truly magnificent chair that will be in it’s own private area for you to enjoy before, after or instead of other treatments at the centre. There will be a small fee for using the chair, but don’t worry - I will be sending you all a special code soon so that you can book a time slot and come try it out! I hope that this will also provide a way for those of you who may be struggling financially to be able to access regular affordable relaxation treatments. I’ll be announcing the opening date and address of the new premises soon, and am in the process of updating Practice Better with my new hours, offerings and prices, so keep an eye out for another email in the next few days for all the details. Until then, thank you for indulging this rather personal letter, and for your kindness, graciousness and patience while I am slowly getting back on my feet. I am but an imperfect human, yet hopefully me sharing this can help you feel more comfortable trusting your own imperfect journey with me, knowing that I will only ever hold a safe and non-judgemental space for anything that you may be going through. This thing called life is hard. It is also exquisitely beautiful. It is the eternal dance of yin and yang, for without the darkness, there would be no light. I am called to share this quote, which has been a favourite of mine since high school (many, many moons ago now!): “People are like stained - glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light from within.” Elisabeth Kubler-Ross I believe in the light inside you, and I, and simply can’t wait to see you all again, to start the next chapter of the Quan Yin Healing Centre. I’ll be in touch again soon, until then, take care of your precious selves, With love Angie
