Chinese Herbal MedicineChinese herbal Medicine has a long and unbroken tradition going back millenia, and has continued to evolve in response to changing clinical conditions around the world. It is still used as a primary method of care in many countries around the world today, and is provided in state hospitals in China alongside Western medicine. Modern pharmacological research has validated its effectiveness and safety for a wide variety of conditions. Chinese herbal medicine takes a wholistic approach to treating illness within the framework of traditional Chinese medicine. The signs and symptoms of your condition will be considered in conjunction with your unique constitution to ensure the prescription of a personalised herbal remedy that is right for you. As your condition changes and improves with treatment, so too the prescription is continually modified until you achieve your desired outcome. Traditionally, herbal prescriptions were provided as raw herbs that you needed to 'cook up' at home and drink as a herbal 'tea' (technically a decoction). At modern Chinese hospitals, they have specialised departments that cook up each patient's formula for them each day, even the out-patients! With our busy schedules and the absence of dedicated cooking dispensaries here in Australia, there are plenty of other options to make taking herbal medicine easy for you. Your formula can be provided in concentrated granule form, or in a tincture; alternatively, classical formulas in ready to take form can also be arranged for you in either pill, tablet or capsule form. These patent formulas, although not as specific as personalised prescriptions, are ‘tried and true’ and also more cost effective. |
