Congratulations for taking this first step towards health and vitality by choosing acupuncture. This page will explain how acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine can help you along the path towards optimal physical, mental and emotional health and vitality.
The World Health Organisation defines health as:
The World Health Organisation defines health as:
“a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity”.
This means that feeling healthy is not simply the absence of acute or chronic illness. Acupuncture can not only help bring relief from any illness that you might be experiencing, but it can also lead you towards a more balanced, healthy and holistic lifestyle, through the following steps of care.
Relief Care

Many patients initially seek acupuncture care for the treatment of a specific health problem. Acupuncture can bring relief to obvious signs and symptoms with frequent visits to allow you to feel better faster. Each visit builds on the previous ones, paving the way to eliminating your initial health complaints.
Frequent visits over a period of weeks or months may be needed to dramatically reduce your symptoms. Factors which will affect your ideal treatment frequency include your condition, age, lifestyle, and overall level of health and vitality. After relief care, you will notice that your initial symptoms have been greatly reduced or eliminated.

Corrective Care

This next phase of treatment aims to maintain and support the changes you have achieved and provide a foundation for deeper healing. This is also a time when underlying issues can be addressed. Even though your symptoms may have disappeared or greatly reduced, it is still important to continue to strengthen and support your body.
Remember that health is more than just the absence of symptoms – with semi-regular visits, we can help you build your health and vitality in a sustainable way and prevent the recurrence of symptoms.

Maintenance and Wellness Care

This phase of care preserves all the progress you have made. Visits can be monthly, bi-monthly or seasonal. Just in the same way that you keep your car running smoothly with periodic tune-ups and oils changes, 'tune up' visits can help you maintain health and vitality. Small problems may be caught before they become major concerns. These preventative maintenance visits can also keep your immune system strong so that you can continue to feel amazing!
Wellness care is the root of healing. In ancient China, an acupuncturist was only compensated as long as his patients remained healthy. If they became ill, it was the acupuncturist's duty to get them well again without compensation. What a different world we would be living in if this was still the case!
Acupuncture, in conjunction with a healthy diet, regular exercise and a balanced lifestyle can help you looking, feeling and performing at your best. I look forward to walking the path of wellness with you.
