AcupressureAcupressure, quite simply, is the stimulation of acupuncture points with firm finger pressure, rather than using needles. It can be used as a primary method of treatment all on its own, or as a complement to your acupuncture treatments, allowing you to strengthen and support the healing process in between sessions. I offer acupressure training in two ways:
Acupressure for Birth For pregnant women and their partners, I offer "Acupressure for Birth" workshops to equip them with wonderful safe, effective skills that they can use in the lead-up to birth and during labour. Acupressure can be an invaluable asset in your 'toolkit', with points that help to encourage labour, promote correct positioning of your baby, manage pain, nausea or exhaustion during labour, help with after-pains and establishing breastfeeding. In this private workshop I introduce a small and manageable selection of powerful acupressure points, discuss the benefits of each one, and them demonstrate them on your body. I ensure that both you and your partner feel confident in locating the points, which ones to use when, and the correct type of pressure to use. The workshop includes:
Empowered self-healing skills For my acupuncture patients, I will often choose a small selection of acupressure points that complement the treatments I am providing. I will then demonstrate their location and ensure that my patients are confident in finding the points themselves, so that they can continue to stimulate these points in between treatments. I am always very happy to share any information, guidance and support needed to help patients master new skills such as these, that will enable a deeper level of healing and a sense of empowerment. I also discuss acupressure techniques on my blog. |
