This is a very personal story - the story of my first experience with severe mental illness, my steps to recovery and what I have learned along the way. If you or anyone you know is experiencing or has experienced postnatal depression, you will know what a devastating illness it can be, all the more so due to the high degree of secrecy, stigma and shame that tends to surround it. I choose to share my story to help others who might be affected, as I was so greatly helped by reading the stories of other brave women who spoke out publicly. I also want to share this to help to start breaking down the social stigma around the condition, to raise more awareness of its prevalence, and to reveal to you my vulnerability to demonstrate that this can happen to anyone - even a health professional who is 'supposed to have it all together'.

![]() By Angie In most lawns in Sydney, the arrival of Spring heralds an exuberance of green, as well as yellow - the yellow of dandelions. For such a beautiful flower, dandelions can cause a lot of dread. But did you know that your lawn's enemy is your health's ally? Dandelion root is a commonly used Chinese herb, “Pu Gong Ying” and it is effective for many conditions. Dandelions are also a great source of nutrition, but few people eat them. If your lawn is organic, you can control your dandelions and boost your nutrition, all in one meal. ![]() By Angie We have a new practitioner on the Affordable Acupuncture team - the wonderful Emma Quine! I am so happy to have a practitioner of Emma's calibre joining us here at the clinic. Emma, Kata and I all studied together at UTS many years ago, and Emma has always been passionate, enthusiastic and dedicated to learning and mastering TCM. Since graduation she has had a wealth of experiences working with very well respected practitioners and runs her own successful practice at Leichhardt. She is joining us at Affordable Acupuncture for one day a week as her gift to the community. Emma has a special interest in women's fertility and pregnancy support but is also an extremely well rounded practitioner. I feel completely confident and happy entrusting your care with Emma, and know that those of you who were sad about Gen's departure will be pleased with the continuity of care that she can provide. Emma will be available at our clinic on Tuesdays from 11am - 7pm and will look after you exquisitely. ![]() You might have heard about acupuncture in connection to a particular condition - for example, its effectiveness for fertility, pain, or quitting smoking.
