Gōng Xǐ Fā Cái! What the year of the Yin Wood Goat means for you.

Gōng Xǐ Fā Cái to our patients and friends. Happy Chinese New Year!

2015 is the year of the Yin Wood Goat (or Sheep) which, according to Chinese Astrology, brings about a soft, gentle and feminine energy. 2015 will be a year of greater connection and understanding with yourself, forgiving yourself, healing past wounds and embracing self-acceptance. Read on to find out more about how to harness the energy of this year to your best advantage.

As the galloping Yang Wood Horse that dominated 2014 with its forceful energy, actions and transformations begins to fade, the energy of the Yin Wood Goat now takes its place. Starting today, the predominant energy governing our natural world is shifting from an outward (Yang/masculine) state to a more inward (Yin/feminine) state. Yin energy is very gentle, intuitive and creative. Rather than yang energy where everything moves very quickly and abruptly, yin energy helps us focus, get grounded and take stock over what we have created so far.

The element of Wood which also predominates this year brings the quality of self-awareness as well as being steady, secure and grounded. This aspect of wood energy complements the demeanour of the Goat perfectly. The Goat symbolises the energy of patience, peacefulness and generosity. The Goat is often considered the most feminine of all the Chinese zodiac animals. It inspires and encourages the creation of beauty and harmony in the home and family. The Goat is extremely intuitive just like its predecessor the Horse, however it is much more attuned to the emotions, with more awareness to nurture, heal and tend to issues that cause suffering.

Thus, this year will be about getting to know yourself deeply, as well as nurturing, healing and loving yourself. By aligning yourself with the guiding energy of the Yin Wood Goat, this year choose to nurture yourself and your loved ones, and keep the virtues of patience, kindness and love always close to your heart. Be wary of greed, overspending or unconscious business practices – instead, focus on charity, modesty and the delight in the small but delicate moments of life.

The Yin Wood Goat will help to tune your emotional well-being and intuition whilst still being receptive to the emotional state of those around you. In order to maximise this energetic shift, consciously use your heart and mind to make decisions, rather than force and aggression. Prioritise self-love and surround yourself with a loving group of friends and family. This year, go within, pay attention to the small things, and nurture yourself and others. From all of us here at Affordable Acupuncture, may it be a wonderful year for you.
