If you’ve noticed it’s been a bit quiet here on the website and on Facebook, I have a good reason. Six months ago, I signed up for a year-long health coaching course online with the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. I’m absolutely loving the course, but it certainly has been keeping me busy during any spare time I have between my practice, the clinic and my two young children! I’m at the half-way point now and I wanted to share with you what I’ve been up to, why I’m doing this course and what it will mean for my offerings in the future.
Why Health Coaching?
If you are a patient of mine, you will already know that I love taking a deep dive into all aspects of your health, to work out a range of approaches that will help to address your issues from the root. Of course, I address things from the root cause with acupuncture and Chinese medicine, but there are so many things outside the treatment room that can influence how quickly you achieve your health goals as well. I love working with people to help them implement positive lifestyle changes that will complement the work we do in the clinic for amazing results.
I feel like I get such a privileged insight into people’s health, life and world, that I can make a bigger impact with my clinical work if I can support that with effective health coaching as well. It’s one thing for me to make observations and suggestions, but another thing to be able to back that up with strategies and support to help people to make sustainable, life-changing action. I am so glad that I am continuing my studies and expanding my skillset in this way, so that I can offer even more value to my wonderful patients. I am really learning a lot about myself as well, along the way, which is a nice bonus! Why IIN?
The Institute for Integrative Health is the has an amazing reputation and is the biggest online health coaching program in the world. I really love the way the course is organised, the extremely broad range and depth of information that it covers, and the really practical skills that it provides. It’s also really fun! I feel confident that I made the right choice, and am so excited to share what I’ve been learning with you all.
If you are interested in studying with IIN yourself, I highly recommend their course. You can learn more by clicking the link below: What does this mean for the future?
I have so many wonderful ideas about how to integrate acupuncture/Chinese medicine and health coaching in the future! I am dreaming about putting together some incredible, unique 3- and 6-month programs combining these modalities to really support people to get healthy on every level. I’m thinking about having a universal program for overall optimal health and happiness, in addition to some more specific programs like pre-conception, fertility and post-natal support.
I will still of course be offering acupuncture on it’s own, with my lucky acupuncture patients reaping the benefit of mini-health coaching sessions along with their treatments as well. Watch this space for more info in the months to come! Have a fabulous day.
