We are so incredibly blessed to have an exhibition of works by local artist Alex Snellgrove in the waiting room this month. Since their installation last week, everyone entering the room has been blown away by these wonderful paintings. There is a real sense of calm and space as the theme of the exhibition is plants and flowers, including this painting of the echinacea shown here on the right. Please note the photos included in this post do not do these gorgeous artworks any justice! This series of paintings was created during the last year and was inspired by the cool-climate gardens of the Blue Mountains near Sydney, where Alex has spent a great deal of time. The effects of light and movement on plants, and their freshness, energy and life force, are the elements she finds exciting and inspiring. Alex has a BA in Visual Communication from SCA, where Visual Arts were part of the course curriculum. For more than 20 years she was an illustrator and art director in advertising and publishing industries. She developed her skills in the fields of teaching and art as a mature student. Since becoming a professional artist, Alex has shown at NG Art, Charles Hewitt (solo show), Gallery East, Hat Hill, Art2Muse and several other galleries. She has had an annual solo show every year since 2007 and been in many group shows around Sydney, the Central Coast and the Blue Mountains. Her next show will be at Gallery East in Clovelly in November 2014. Alex is also a tutor, privately and at Pine Street and Waverley Woollahra Art Schools. For more information and to browse her other collections, please see her website at www.alexsnellgrove.com We thank Alex for generously sharing her artworks with us for the next month. Make sure you come along and have a look before its too late! Comments are closed.
