Emotional regulation and emotional resilience are key concepts to develop awareness and skills around for children of all ages, starting from the very young. Good mental health is every person’s birthright, however unfortunately in Australia our children are facing something of a crisis. Beyond Blue reports that 1 in 7 school aged children were diagnosed with a mental health condition in 2015, and this doesn’t take into account that mental health conditions are notoriously under-reported and under-diagnosed due to a pervasive social stigma around these conditions.
It’s really important for parents, carers, teachers and anyone with young people in their lives to be proactive about encouraging the development of emotional intelligence, and raising awareness around good mental health practices.

My recent win at the 2019 Altitude Awards was covered in our local newspaper! Please find below a link to an article in the Blue Mountains Gazette that features all the winners of this years awards, including my WIN in the category of "Soaring Micro". It is a lovely feeling to be publicly acknowledged in this way. https://www.bluemountainsgazette.com.au/story/6233824/women-with-altitude-winners-from-blue-mountains/ Front row: Merylese Merceia, Blue Eco Homes (category sponsor), Fiona Donnelly, Telopea Services (award winner), Lisa Finn-Powell (award winner). Back, Angie Savva (award winner), Dawn Cady, Alleviate Pain (award winner), Michelle Locke, Western Sydney Business Centre (major awards sponsor), Sally-Anne Pisk (finalist) It was such an incredible thrill to be awarded the Soaring Micro Award earlier this month at the prestigious Altitude Awards. The awards are held annually by the organisation “Women with Altitude”, a group that exists to support, connect and inspire women in business. There were about 300 amazing, inspiring people at the Awards Gala Ball and I was happy to just be there as a finalist – so when Susan Templeman called out my name as the winner in my category, I was temporarily speechless!
In my latest Facebook Live video, I discuss the use of acupuncture and moxibustion to help encourage optimal conditions for breech babies to move into the head down position.
If you’ve noticed it’s been a bit quiet here on the website and on Facebook, I have a good reason. Six months ago, I signed up for a year-long health coaching course online with the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. I’m absolutely loving the course, but it certainly has been keeping me busy during any spare time I have between my practice, the clinic and my two young children! I’m at the half-way point now and I wanted to share with you what I’ve been up to, why I’m doing this course and what it will mean for my offerings in the future.
I would like to introduce you to an easy yet effective meditation technique, quite provocatively named, “The Quickie”. No, no, it's not what you think! I first learned about the exercise from one of my favourite teachers, Dr Aviva Romm, and have found it to be a powerful, on-the-go technique that is easy to learn and practice. I've then taken it to the next level by adding acupressure to it, to supercharge this technique for maximum impact.
So, are you ready to learn more? Acupuncture is an ancient healing art that has more recently gained popularity all over the world, with it's benefits increasingly recognised by both national and international health organisations for a wide range of conditions. However, research indicates that the many myths surrounding this seemingly exotic therapy remain strong, which is understandable considering that it is only relatively new to the Western world.
It's important to understand what's true and what's not when it comes to acupuncture so that you can make an informed choice about whether it is the right therapy for you, so lets bust some acupuncture myths! In my latest Facebook Live video, I debunk five common myths about acupuncture!
In my latest Facebook Live video, I introduce you to "the Quickie – supercharged!" - where I combine acupressure with a powerful meditation technique for quick stress relief.
Here is my latest Facebook Live video replay, where I discuss the ancient art of Chinese pulse diagnosis.
